Giving In

Well, seeing as my camera took an unexpected trip to Stockholm Uni today and I can't put up photos, I thought I'd surrender to the Spidey theme that was running in my comments.

Keppet, enjoy.

Oh, and I've been reading Ultimate Spider-Man online, I'm up to issue 7, I think. Bloody fantastic artwork. I love it. Yay for another addiction.

wooooww, prettyyy!

I'm not too fond usually of the Ultimate designs but... you can read it online?!?

I'm buying the Spiderman Issue every month and my fav designer is Mike Deodato.

I had bought last month the special issue (House of M) and while the story (full one) was very good, i didn't much liked the designs tho.

Could you put the link to Spiderman Ultimate please?

ohh, hell.. i'm being eaten alive by an army of mosquitoes... :(

You should be able to navagate on the side bar to find the start. It's really bloody impressive so far. Loving it, personally.

One of my favourite covers

One of my favourite dream sequences

Another great cover

I love Romita Junior - This is page one of a double page spread.

Amazing Spider-man #33 and #524 have the same title. Pft. You'd have thought someone would have checked.

HUGE spoiler warnings for "The Other" series but if you want to risk it, read the first line on this page. It has to rank pretty high in the "things I never thought I'd read" list:
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man 4

Unfortunately, all my favourite pages (that I can remember off the top of my head) are double page spreads. They look sooooo much better in that form:
Plus next page

John Romita Jr so rules... it is such a shame he isn't doing the art anymore (and hasn't been for a long time).

Single page I like

Ah thank bob! They submitted this as a full picture rather than cutting it into two- The 500th issue
Ah, and there are some good rain scenes in that issue too.

Thanks Em.

I've been so utterly biased... too much John Romita Jr and Scott Hanna so far. Mark Bagley is also good but perhaps lacking in... experimental drive? His pictures tend to be more naturalistic than Romita's 2D and oddly angular work.

Good picture. And an example of the excellent twists of the standard story that Ultimate excels in- "Spider-man: No more" turned upsidedown. (Ultimate 14 but the spoilers are marginal on this page).

Though I criticise the art for being unangular (really such a lame criticism...) it has the most perfect composition ever. (Volume 10, spoilers marginal)

Does the cool hip NY lingo in Ultimate bother anyone else though? Do people really say "yahtzee"?

Okay and for nadine... Deodato is assuredly better than a lot of artists but somehow lacking in the uniqueness of Romita and the composition brilliance of Bagley. His people seem to lack character to me... and his portrayal of Spidey not all that original but here are two interesting pages:

Random compositions of MJ and Peter
Spidey in webslinging action
(Spoilers are very mild)

How about some direct comparisons? Rather spoilerful links here.

Here is how my favourite artist does Morlun:
Romita
This is nadine's favourite which I consider good too:
Deodeto
And here is _not_ how to do it:
Weiringo

Woah. Spidey overload.

Do people really say "yahtzee"?

Nope. Not that i know of.

Overload? Where? There are only a dozen pages I've picked out. I could do more.

The representation of pulic school life in NY really bothers me... at first it bothered me because I felt it too exaggerated, implausibly bad. But since reading a'nut's posts, I am annoyed that it isn't bad enough.

I actually guessed (correctly) what page that linked to. How sad am I?

I think in some board post I said that I hoped for this to be in the film... alas, it was not. A missed opportunity there.

I'm up to issue 28. I think there's something wrong with me.

Well, it seems like I'm turning into Kepp with the Angel and Spidey love.

Good lord, next thing you know I'll be good at science.

I didn't even have to _try_ to turn you into me... it makes all those hours spent grnding skit down look like a waste of time.

You know, she hasn't even looked at the couple of links I put up here.

Couple... few... several... 15? Whatever.

I have replaced by David Tennant/Doctor Who desktop with the 500th issue picture I linked to.

Did I mention thanks for the link?

No worries!

And I looked at the links. Very cool, especially the 500th issue one. That's glorious.
